Home Grown Tomatoes Perfect for Nutrition Health |

The centerpiece of our salads that we eat for nutrition health are tomatoes. In fact, we love all tomato based food and have had many a pot of delicious homemade tomato based soups this winter. Last summer we found a gardener in our home town who had a surplus of tomatoes and we bought a bushel and I was able to can most of them so that we would enjoy the bold flavor of home grown tomatoes all year long. I used those primarily for our soups so of course the soups were rich in flavor.
Home grown tomatoes are rich in nutrition health-giving vitamins, so we were pleased to find them grown locally and fresh off the vine. We have tried growing tomatoes ourselves, but our water is much too hard for them, in spite of all the soil amendments we use to alter the PH of our soil. There are some vegetables we grow quite easily, like swiss chard and scallions, so when we use these in salads or as cooked greens, we are getting many vitamins and minerals. Our nutrition health is top on our list when it comes to meal planning, and I hope that the same gardener plants a surplus of tomatoes again this spring so we can count on lots of home grown tomatoes packing the pantry for year-round nutrition health and great flavor.
